Eyelid Lift in Athens
Blepharoplasty Overview
Blepharoplasty, also known as an eyelid lift, is a surgical procedure that can be performed to address sagging, wrinkled eyelid skin, and excess fat accumulation in the eyelids. It can be performed on both the upper eyelid and lower eyelids.
Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. James Parker of Parker Plastic Surgery offers blepharoplasty for patients in Athens in need of surgical eyelid rejuvenation.
What Is an Eyelid Lift?
Age, sun exposure, and hereditary factors all contribute to wrinkles, deep lines, and puffiness around the eyes. This can create a tired or aged appearance. An eyelid lift, or blepharoplasty, is designed to restore a more youthful and rested appearance to your eyes.
Blepharoplasty can also improve your scope of vision if you have excessive upper eyelid skin that interferes with peripheral or superior vision. A blepharoplasty can involve the upper lids, the lower lids, or both. When combined with a facelift, blepharoplasty can help to significantly rejuvenate the appearance of the face.
Procedure
The Eyelid lift procedure corrects drooping upper eyelids and puffy bags below the eyes by removing excess fat, skin, and muscle. (The cost of upper-eyelid surgery may be covered by insurance if used to correct visual field defects.)

Blepharoplasty Surgery
Eyelid surgery is performed at the Parker Plastic Surgery outpatient surgical center. The surgery can be done under sedation or general anesthesia and can take 45 min – 1 ½ hour depending on if just upper lids or upper and lower lids are being addressed. Incisions are made in the natural creases in the upper and lower lids and are very well hidden once healed.
The surgery typically involves some skin removal and resuspension of the muscles and fat surrounding the lids. While not a very painful operation, there is bruising and swelling which can last 10-14 days. Sutures are generally removed 4-7 days after surgery and makeup can be worn once the stitches are out. Contacts can usually be worn again about 1-2 weeks after surgery.
How Much Does Blepharoplasty Cost?
The overall cost of an Blepharoplasty is affected by anesthesia fees, hospital fees, post-surgery garments, and medications. Price is also impacted by medical tests, surgeon’s fees, and the exact techniques employed.
